Every Child Deserves a Family

The challenge is great, but God is at work in Eswatini — restoring families, transforming communities, and writing new stories of hope. You’re invited to be part of the miracle.

Less than 12% of children grow up with both parents.

Eswatini has the highest HIV rate in the world, resulting in approximately 54% of the child population being considered orphaned and vulnerable. The challenge is heartbreaking: a nation where generations of children have grown up without the stability of family. Poverty, disease, and fractured family structures have left many abandoned and vulnerable. Today, families themselves are breaking apart, leaving children to parent children, and perpetuating the cycle of brokenness.

But God Is Doing Something

Even in the middle of this crisis, God is moving powerfully. He is healing lives through the Gospel, restoring families that were once broken, and empowering communities to become places of hope.

What once looked impossible is becoming reality: children rescued, families restored, communities strengthened, and churches planted.

“This was by far the most impactful missions trip I have ever been on! I cam back from Eswatini forever changed.”

“I have been on many missions trips around the world, visiting almost all the major missions-related continents- Africa, Asia, South America. But the time in Eswatini was by far the most life-changing time of service I have experienced yet. Challenge Ministries is providing truly wholistic transformation within each of their ICBC communities, and serving alongside the local pastor through a missions trip could not be more eye-opening for God’s call on each of us to join in serving one another daily. This ministry is facilitating James 1:27: Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

The Ministry’s Role:
Partnering With God’s Work

Challenge Ministries is stepping into what God is already doing in Eswatini through three interconnected pathways:

Evangelism and discipleship in over 41 churches, Christ-centered education for thousands of children, and recovery programs for women and men overcoming trauma and addiction.

Family-style homes for orphans, reunification programs that restore children to safe, loving families, and family preservation efforts that keep vulnerable families together.

Integrated Community-Based Care (ICBC) sites that bring churches, preschools, food security, and care teams within walking distance of every rural family. Programs that plow fields, provide food security, and build economic opportunities so families can thrive.

“Eswatini is a small nation with a massive crisis. A crisis that God has the power to overcome, and turn this small country into a pulpit to the rest of Africa and beyond.”
